Fins may not be the first gear item that comes to mind when talking about gear maintenance but fins are essential for any dive. Here are a few tips from our Gear Editor.
FIN CARE — BEFORE YOU DIVE
• Check straps and buckles for damage or corrosion
• Inspect foot pocket, blade and rails for cracks or tears
FIN CARE — AFTER YOU DIVE
• Rinse thoroughly in fresh water
• Inspect straps and buckles for damage
• Install foot pocket inserts to maintain correct shape
• Store flat and out of the sun
