Phil Napoli from West Chester, Ohio Age: 68 Years diving: 39 Certification: YMCA/TDI Nitrox

Dive Site: Hilma Hooker wreck Location: Bonaire Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 16mm lens, f-5.6, 1/30 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, 1/2 power, manual mode Description: The combination of film speed, f-stop and low ambient light, due to the depth, required a reduced shutter speed to balance ambient and strobe light.

Dive Site: Hilma Hooker wreck Location: Bonaire Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 16mm lens, f-8, 1/30 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, 1/2 power, manual mode Description: A wreck propeller almost always provides for an interesting photo opportunity because of the object size and shape, and in this case the coral growth as well.

Dive Site: Salt Pier Location: Bonaire Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 16mm lens, f-8, 1/60 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, 1/2 power, manual mode Description: The famed Bonaire Salt Pier provides a multitude of photo opportunities for wide-angle shots, provided you look upward instead of down. The pier's coral-covered pilings and sunlit water are excellent examples. In this case, the 16mm fisheye lens increases the photo appeal by "adding" curvature to the pilings.

Dive Site: Rock Pile Location: Klein Bonaire Marine Life ID: Frogfish Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 105mm macro lens, f-16, 1/60 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, TTL Description: After positioning my strobes in a seagull wing configuration with the heads angled inward and bracketing the image between f-11 and f-22, the following photo resulted.

Dive Site: Town Pier Location: Bonaire Marine Life ID: Sea horse Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 105mm macro lens, f-22, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, TTL Description: This head shot of a reddish brown sea horse required that I get super close in order to "fill the frame".

Dive Site: Habitat House Reef Location: Bonaire Marine Life ID: Barracuda Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 105mm macro lens, f-16, 1/60 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, TTL Description: Because of the highly reflective surface of this predator, I closed down the lens to f-16 and waited until the fish was slightly off-angle before releasing the shutter.

Dive Site: Rock Pile Location: Klein Bonaire Marine Life ID: Spotted moray Camera and Settings: Nikon N90s, Seacam housing, 105mm macro lens, f-16, 1/60 sec, dual Ikelite 150/50 strobes, TTL Description: I came across this moray with only one unexposed frame left. I took my time setting up because I knew I wouldn't have a second chance. Bingo!!
