A part of Luminox’s 2024 Heritage Collection celebrating 35 years of the brand’s groundbreaking self-powered lighting tech, the Pacific Diver Automatic Midnight Mariner is the brand’s most luminescent watch to date. It is outfitted with Luminox’s iconic self-powered markers and a fully coated luminous dial. The Midnight Mariner’s combination of robust construction, easy-reading design and outstanding legibility exemplifies the brand’s mission to provide readability in any condition.

The dial’s contrasting black-and-white color scheme makes for easy reading during the day and includes a textured wave pattern that isn’t readily apparent when viewing the watch head-on but catches the light at an angle for a subtle, stylish flourish. The one-way rotating elapsed timing bezel is low-profile yet easy to operate. It is fully graduated, with markers set at five-minute intervals, making it possible to track short and long duration alike with ease and precision.

There’s more than meets the eye with the Midnight Mariner. In the absence of light, a transformation takes place. Like Dorthy and Toto transitioning from the monochromatic fields of Kansas to the Technicolor landscape of Oz, the watch comes alive with fantastic, electrifying colors. It sports 16 green and orange self-powered luminous gas tubes. These small but mighty markers emit a brilliant, powerful glow that pierces through the dark, and they will continue to glow constantly for up to 25 years with no batteries or external power sources required.

In addition to the company’s signature luminous technology, the watch has a SuperLumiNova coating on the dial and bezel indices. After being “charged” by adequate exposure to natural or artificial light and activated by darkness, this coating gives off an aquatic glow that is bright and unmistakable. It may seem a bit redundant, but it’s more than just a neat party trick. Except for the date window, the dial and bezel can be read just as if it were in daylight, allowing users to take advantage of the watch’s clean, contrasting display and fully graduated bezel even when the lights go out.

WHAT’S IN A NAME? For over 36 years, Luminox has been committed to offering cutting-edge luminescence and readability. This mission is so foundational that it is literally built into the brand’s name: lumi is Latin for light, and nox is Latin for night.

To accomplish this aim, every Luminox watch is equipped with tiny, colorful self-powered micro gas tubes that constantly emit light. They glow without the need of an external power source and provide constant visibility for up to 25 years.
